While I think the best interest of the planet earth is well-served by this man's death, I'm uncomfortable with the fist-pumping and partying. This is a person's death. It's a solemn business. Save the hootenanny for something else. :(
Thank you! I totally agree. It's disturbing to see the crowds out there celebrating.
We didn't end terrorism, we caught and captured one man who is a war criminal. While I'm glad he's been caught, the celebrations just make me uncomfortable.
when the so called body is buried at sea I have to wonder just what is really going on.
Sorry for being the ultimate sceptic but maybe all those years of "light at the end of the tunnel" during the Vietnam fiasco has jaded me to what the government has to say.
Lets see, Obama's ratings tank daily with the rising gas prices and his poor decisions regarding Libya . What better news for a lift in the polls then the death of Bin Laden?
I think it's interesting to read the US leaders reaction . . . the Republicans and the Tea Partiers gave not one ounce of credit to Obama (of course). ------- To Verbie, I say with respect . . . loosen up . . I mean if people can't fist pump for a dead bin Laden . . . I put bin Laden in the same category as Hitler and had I been around, I'd sure as Hell fist pump Hitler's death ---- I kinda disagree with the body being buried at sea . . unless a helluva pictures and documentation were taken. Did this man deserve a Muslim burial? I'm sure it was done to show that we were merciful. BUt shit, can you imagine what terrorists would have done if they'd killed Dubya or Obama???---and no, in this day and age I really sometimes don't believe that we are more humane than they are. -------
Sorry this is rambly . . I've had no sleep and no coffee. I have to go to work
Bush said in a statement that Obama called him Sunday night to inform him of “the momentous achievement” of bin Laden’s death.
“I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude,” Bush said. “The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.”
I'm pretty sure bush is a republican and it seems he congradulated Mr Obama......
I see the crowds were out at ground zero last night yelling and screaming.
Give it a day or 2 then on to the next "ground shaking" event .
Cheney offered his appreciation to the Obama administration. “I also want to congratulate President Obama and the members of his national security team,” he said.
Emma -- I was actually, in my mind, comparing Bin Laden with Hitler -- as in, how would I feel if it were Hitler but, Bin Laden is no Hitler. Hitler had pretty much absolute power over an evil that he designed and implemented.
Bin Laden is just one of many, many Middle Eastern terrorists. Many have come before him and many will come after.
Once El Duce was debating Bin Laden and Bin used an Adolf Hitler quote to bolster his position. El Duce answered him with "Sir, I knew Adolf Hitler, I was a friend of Adolf Hitler and sir YOU'RE NO Adolf Hitler" !

There will be retaliation.
Verb....I don't think I've ever seen the word hootenanny spelled out before. I like it.
