Tonight: baby shower (not my favorite thing). I'll be okay. Hope they have cocktails. My neighbor is having a cocktail party but I can't go, so Mr. T is going without me. This kind of sucks.

Tomorrow, J's 19th birthday--nice dinner out. She leaves for school in one week.

I think I'd rather stick my thumb in my eye than watch a civil war reenactment. No offense. :) I'd rather wander around in your garden.

today i went out with the in-laws for my m-i-l's birthday 62nd birthday (the one who has alzheimer's). it was an interesting day to say the least. as a clan, we're currently trying to get thrown out of as many chain restaurants as possible. the people at Copelansd's were quite tolerant, but i think if we came back too soon, they'd be done with us. i was wishing for one of Tree's cocktails too. You know, i do not like wedding or baby showers. i think it's all the fake nice. i've recently decided to stop making wedding samplers. every couple that i've ever made a wedding sampler for has gotten a divorce.

The shower was fine. They had lots of wine. I had only one glass because the party was located in a windy (that's wind-y, as in many winding roads) mountaintop subdivision where there were lots of long-legged deer around every bend and no street lights and I knew I needed every wit I had to get out of there safely. The food was good and the cake very pretty. The mother-to-be's mother was there. She'd been adopted and had a very touching story about reuniting with her many birth siblings after both her birth and "earth" mothers had died.

I helped my older bro pack up his place as he is moving back to the bay area.
