Oscars

Will you watch the Oscars tonight? I'm excited to see if Jeff Bridges will win Best Actor. I haven't seen Crazy Heart, but I've loved Jeff Bridges forever . . . both him and his brother Beau. There's just something so real and down-to-Earth about both.
I hope James Cameron doesn't win Best Director. A real Assholiness aura surrounds him.
I'm torn: Meryl Streep was perfection as Julia Child, but it would be nice if Sandra Bullock won. I didn't see The Blind Side, but she was good in The Proposal. People label her America's Sweetheart. Meg Ryan (pre-collagen-injected fish lips) used to hold that title. So did Julia Roberts. Who would want to wear the America's Sweetheart title?? I mean, really. Really?

We saw Crazy Heart last night (wonderful), and stopped and bought the fantastic soundtrack on the way home.

I never watch any award programs. Let me know if Bridges wins, I like him except he reminds me of H.

I hope Avatar doesn't win. I can't even believe it was nominated.

I saw The Hurt Locker today. Amazing and hard to watch because it feels so real.

HATED the intro speeches for best actor and actress. Indulgent and time sucking. Bleh. Overall, the show felt off. So glad we used the FF button for a lot of it.

Steve martin and Alec Baldwin were absolutely wonderful hosts. Very very funny! In the words of the loopy Paula Abdul "They made it their own"

PS: millionaire or not Miley Cyrus was a typical teen---she slouched. I'm sure her designer was shaking his/her head--I think she was afraid of it slipping and showing a boobie.

Urban . . . Jeff won. Sandra won. MOnique won and some guy from Inglourious Basterds.

oh, and the first ever woman director---Kathryn Bigelow from The HUrt Locker

Re: Miley Cyrus--She's supposed to slouch. Don't all 16 year olds slouch?
Hated, hated, hated Sara Jessica Parker's dress. She looked like she was wearing a bedsheet with Godknowswhat at the top.
Everybody on the chat shows was talking about Sandra Bullock's dress. The dress would have been nice in another color...and really, her hair did not work for me. Too dark a dye job.
Queen Latifah looked lovely, however. Has she perhaps lost some weight?
Cameron Diaz looked fabulous as well.
Yo, Mariah Carey--your legs are too fat for that slit up your dress and your feet are NOT pretty. Wear pumps sometime. Jeesh.
I too, was glad "Avatar" did not win, as I've never read anything flattering about Mr Cameron--from anybody not just what ex-wife might have been talking about him....which brings me to Kathryn Bigelow.....
Congrats, Congrats. I haven't seen "The Hurt Locker" and not suprisingly, I am not going to see it. But congratulations are in order and anyone who can make their ex look silly on National television (as in HIS movie made a aircraft carrier full of money, but SHE won best director),deserves my notice.
Hated Jenifer Lopez's dress, although some of the wags liked it.
Glad Jeff Bridges finally won, didn't know the guy from "Inglorious Basterds" and I only faintly know who Mon'que is (did I spell her name right?) I don't think I'll see Precious....someone referred to it as the "Feel Bad Movie of the Year". That's
enough to keep ME out of the theater
I had a great time watching the awards though, to top the great day I had watching my Orlando Magic beat the Lakers.....
Congratulations to all the winners and congratulations for the other nominees for showing up.

HIya Murf! I disagree with you about Sandra Bullock--from head to toe she looked wonderful.

I don't know what SJP was smoking, but I agree with you about her dress....it looked too big for her. And as one of the Fashion Police said . . . just because it came off a runway doesn't mean that it's a fabulous dress! . . and that BUN in her hair! ick.

I though Sandra's hair and the ruby red lips were absolutely gorgeous! And even though I dislike Cameron Diaz, I think she may have had the best dress there. Helen Mirren looked fab, as always.

Hallie's word for Mariah Carey is "beastly." She's not exactly fat, but she just looks huge and hulking all the time, and I'm with Murf--cover those legs and feet, woman. They are...well....beastly!

I thought Sandra Bullock looked lovely.Miley Cyrus did seem slouchy. Maybe to hold up the dress? The movie Precious does seem like a very sad movie. I think I'll pass. Glad Avatar didn't win.I'll pass on that one too.

Mariah's problem is that she still dresses like she's 24 .. and a size 4. She can wear a bigger size and still look beautiful . . and hide some of that cleavage once in awhile. She always looks as if she's traveling with two short, bald dudes in front of her.

So I went and peeked at some of the Oscars online and I thought Sandra Bullock looked fab. I like her. Jeff Bridges started off odd but then I thought he gave a great speech.

Okay, that's all I watched.

I loved Sandra Bullock's speech too.
