A friend of mine from the music department at church had a tree planted in my name, in the San Bernardino mountains where the terrible fires were a couple of years ago.
I thought that was a great gift. Next year I'm going to seriously look into Heifer Project or something like this tree-planting program. Many of my friends and family are in the same position that most of us are in--houses chock-full of stuff, and no real need for Christmas gifts.
