i'd be happy about a divorce if there were some nasty skelatons in the closet that caused it. did the article say they're happy with each other or happy to be rid of each other? i can imagine the headlines right now....
sheesh 40 years seems almost impossible to me. they really don't look that old.

i think it is sad too. 40 years and they can't work it out.
I can't believe it either. so sad after 40 years. after that many years and going through so much together good and bad and they can't work it out.
If they're both happy, then it's not sad.
I googled it and the article I read said they were mutual and happy about it. Just seems like so many years gone.
I call BS on that one. Yeah, they may SAY they're "happy about it," but happiness does not lead to divorce.

Jilly, I've been with the same person since 1983, and the Gores are my mother's age. The years pile up faster than you can imagine.
What about:
"Hey honey, I'd sure be happier if we divorced."
"Yeah, I'd be happier too."
"I know, let's get a divorce."
i have to agree with tree. the years do slip by quickly. i have been with bigjoe since 1978. when i think about it, it almost seems impossible.
just says they weren't having affairs. they grew apart and the divorce is mutual and they're happy with the decision.
Been with the same person since 1981. we've been married 28 years.seemed to have gone by fast. doesn't seem like it.
I'll bet it comes out that Al and Laurie David (Larry David's ex) messed around. They have a lot in common.
I wouldn't be surprised. Seems like after a bit a lot comes in these politicians lives after a bit.
