Hey, last year we had to pay . . big time, and we didn't get our "stimulus money" promised to us by George Duyba . . so we deserve a good year!

I dropped a five-digit check off to the IRS at the post office today. Ouch. Just ouch.

Look at it this way....if you end up paying, then at least you got to use all your money this past year and put it to work for you.

If you get a refund, that's the same as giving Uncle Sam an interest free loan.

I keep trying to have less taken out of my paycheck, but unless I were to claim imaginary children on my W-4, then I always end up getting a refund.

I hate that. I'd rather break even or owe money. Then at least I would have had a year of compounding interest working for me on my money.

I got quite a bit back this year and last year and I'm not sure why. I claim 1, which is all I can really claim and I should be coming out about even.

No, her we spell it PAIN :)

As for having our money work for us last year (I'm assuming in investments) that was all well and good until the stock market tanked wiping out about 1/3 of our investments. On the other hand, we now have losses out the yin yang carrying forward for YEARS.

Gail, were you referring to Pres. Obama and his deficits?

we don't even take one exemption because the year we took one, we had to pay about $10,000. of course, now we have a kid, own a house and operate a business, so we do okay tax season. this year we're going to pay and pay until it hurts because we're each changing jobs and getting rid of the business.
