I found
this NYT article fascinating. Seems that atheists all over the country are coming out of the closet, so-to-speak, and banding together for community service, family activities and just general fellowship with other humanists.
They liken themselves to the early days of the gay rights movement. Interesting stuff.

Verb, I like this article. Community is important, no matter what the organizing idea, right? Thanks for posting.
Yep, people are just happier and more effective in community. It strikes me as wrong when some people are denied the right to community based on some arbitrary criteria society has decided to apply.
Indiana has a religious license plate which is the "default" plate. I asked for the alernative, which I got. I told my friends that I requested a different one and got rolled eyes, but I said that I insisted upon separation of Church and State.
I think the trouble with most ardent Christians is that they only truly believe in Separation of church and State when it's SOMEONE ELSE' church--not theirs.
