Is it fair to say the big shock was him admitting it, rather than that it happened?
I was never so shocked (Honest!) as the first time I was propositioned at my first real post-college job, by a woman three desks over, but in a different department. I knew her name and that was it! There are probably a myriad of reasons why it happens, but man oh man, does it ever happen!
i say big shock because he brought it out on the show with everyone thinking it started off as a joke.
i was propositioned too at my first job by a man old enough to be my father. he called me on a sunday morning asking to come over to "spend some time together". i asked him where his wife was. he said.. at church. i said, maybe you should go there too. i had enough young men to keep me happy. i didn't need an old fart fumbling around on me.
I don't blame the victim--Letterman--at all. I blame the sleazy SOB who tried to blackmail him. Years ago a big TV star would have probably paid off the blackmail. Kudos to Dave for coming clean. He's a private citizen . . not a politician who hired hookers or bought drugs with taxpayer money. Dave'll answer to his wife and family--not to me. And maybe he'll remember not to shit where he eats.
I think good for David Letterman. In the clip I saw, he didn't say when he had the sex with the staffers. I didn't get the impression that it was while married, I got the impression that it was just over the years.
