LOL Urban. This guy at work brags that he's seen Avatar seven times. I think "wtf"? I haven't seen it and probably won't. I just don't like James Cameron

No accounting for taste.

I loved it!

On the other hand, I saw Valentine's Day with Hallie on monday, and it was a total yawner.

I thought it was ok, but way too long....and I didn't see it in a theatre.

I saw it on the iMax in 3D. The first 30 minutes I was thinking - "Hmm, that's kind of an interesting concept."

By 45 minutes I was thinking, "Wow, this is awful."

By the one hour mark I was thinking, "Oh man, I don't think I can stand two more hours."

By the two hour mark, my friend and I were cracking up because it was so bad. We laughed until we had tears in our eyes and finally had to stop ourselves cuz we were afraid we devotees might go berserk and beat us up.

I didn't think it was bad, just absurdly long. And if you check out failblog.org a few weeks back, there is a one-page summary of Pocahontas with words and such crossed out to make it like a one-page summary of Avatar.

Too funny. It's the same concept.

The most interesting thing in the whole movie was the idea to cast Giovanni Ribisi as the corporate tool.

It's also the same as Dances With Wolves. I knew that the story wasn't going to be anything new so I didn't mind that but, it was downright dumb - in my opinion.

I think they figured folks would be so wowed by the visual that the story didn't have to be all that but I'm just that minority that wasn't wowwed by the visual.

Frankly, I've been more impressed by Pixar's technology that this.
