Question, My Chicas

So . . . I hate the term "cougar" and will never, ever be one but . . . what do you when a guy that is considerably younger than you are but who is around the age you actually look, (so -- assume he thinks you're the same age) asks you out?

In my limited dating experience, I'd say that if you like him, you should try a date or two.

I second Tree.

"Cougar" is insulting . . . do they call a man who dates much younger women, "Tom Cat"? No. They call him "lucky"

True . . . but I'm guessing he's like 15 years younger. :-\

my guy is almost 2 years older than i am but looks about 25ish years older. when i go to his school, the kids and all the staff who don't know me mistake me for 16ish. when people see us together, they often ask me about my "dad" and they're talking about my guy. i just laugh it off, b'c they're ignorant and there's nothing we can do to change things. if you like the guy, try it out. no one says you have to marry him. coffee and dinner are just that. if he's nuts or a drag, you can drop him. otherwise, when you hit a certain age, who cares about your age as long as you're both firmly adults and mature? my fear with a younger man would be the maturity factor.

I also hate the sobriguet "cougar". I've begun to call all the older, handsome, rich-as-Midas women pounding a ferocious path to my bedroom door "pumas".

Crazily enough, I'd never heard the moniker 'cougar'. If you like the guy, go out with him.

And here I thought catamount would be more to your liking, Ded. My bad.

I don't mind much the term "catamount" though for a time, the SPCA was after me for such behavior. For years, I sometimes called these women "painters", rendevousing with them almost innocently under streetlights but, afterwards, I paid for it. Through all this diversity of nomenclature, --pumas, cougars, mountain lions-- I never minded much getting mounted from the backside. However, that last parting bite at the back of the neck I could have done without.
