32 degrees

I've been thinking how times have changed. One SMALL way:
When I was in high school, it was my junior year when the administration started "allowing" girls to wear jeans and trousers to school! But it had to be at least 32 degrees outside!! Can you imagine? So every winter morning, we had to call the Time & Temperature number (every city has one . . .usually sponsored by a bank) to check the temp outside.
What stupid thing went on in your high school?

not being allowed to wear pants was the rule here too, but i think i was in 6th grade when the rule changed. until then we could wear pants under our skirts and then remove them when we got to school. i bet the little boys loved that.

hmmm. on to highschool. we couldn't smoke in the restrooms! have you ever heard anything so ridiculous. ;)

What I marvel over is that we COULD smoke at my high school. We had this courtyard known as the "smokehole" where all the bad kids went during the passing periods, lunch and before and after school to stand around and smoke and look rebellious.

Can you imagine a high school nowadays having a designated smoking area for students?

My mother tells stories of layers of woolen petticoats under their skirts in the wintertime.

i get annoyed at the no food/drink/candy/gum/hats/mp3 players/cd players headphones/ cell phones etc rules. i spend most of my days collecting expensive gadgets than teaching.
