I have been listening to Morgan Freeman doing some Olympic commercials. What a fantastic voice he has. I think maybe the only other voice I like so much was years ago, Winston Hibler,the Disney narrator for all their wildlife shows on Sunday evening- The Wonderful World of Color- although we didn't have color TV until about 1975. How many of these episodes do you remember?

Our family NEVER missed the Wonderful World of Color (although we saw it in black and white!) On Sunday nights, we'd make sandwiches for dinner, and we got to eat in front of the tv--and have COKE! In tiny little 6 oz. bottles...
I've read since that many of those Disney nature shows were totally faked. Kinda sad.
burl ives voice was one i loved and i still do. i love his christmas albums and his narration of rudolph the red nosed reindeer
Donald Sutherland has a good speaking voice. I'm pretty sure we watched Disney on many Sunday nights, too.
i LOVED Wonderful World of Disney.
But then again, I enjoyed watching The Lawrence Welk show with my grandparents. I think it was more watching it with them than the show itself.

emma. you brought back a fond memory when you mentioned lawrence welk. my grandpa loved that show and if we were there being babysat on a night it was on, he would yell... hurry up everyone, welk is coming on. my cousin and i would run upstairs and put on one of the many old costumes my grandma kept for us and we would dance around in the living room to the music. i guess grandpa liked watching us dance around as much as the show itself. he was a sweet sweet man.

There's a woman who has a lovely sorta deep voice and a british accent who narrates all of the history channel religious specials, you know the ones about sex and the bible or lost book of someone or other? anyway, i wish i had her voice.
my voice sounds like i'm 12. once a week a telemarketer asks to talk to my mom and i refuse to leave messages on machines because people play them back and laugh at me. When Allan (vanda) called me once, the first thing he said was something like "good god, are you 12, will I be arrested for calling?"

I must say, I did not like LW, and you will laugh at the reason why. That's when my mom was putting pincurls in my hair for church the next morning,, and she would often be enratured with the TV and dig those things right thru my scalp. I had of course chewed off all the little tips that offered protection. However, I did love that lady who played the piano very fast and enthusiastically.
I watched Lawrence with my grandmother, too. She just loved the champagne bubbles lady, whose name escapes me.
Grandparents are a wonderful, wonderful blessing in this world.
Was her name Norma? I watched LW with my great-grandmother. We ate dinner on TV trays and then she would dance with us. Every once in a while, she'd cry when they played a song that reminded her of her husband. I was in kindergarten and I thought her tears were mysteries.
