i am a fan of watching the kentucky derby. i don't make any bets, except for the buck i bet with bigjoe.
however, i am a curse for the horse i pick. two years in a row, the horses i picked broke a leg or an ankle.
here is my pick for this year..... number 7 papa clem.
let's see if i can break the curse.

I love the Derby too. We always watch and I usually pick the horse either by name, color, or jockey-if I only had a Racing Form I might do better :)
If you ever get a chance, go to the Derby in Louisville-even if the infield is the best seating you can get. I've been twice, back in the 70's and it's a really neat thing to do. Of course, on the infield, all you can see are the horse's hooves is you lay on the ground.
the preakness is big here, but i don't want to go. i hate loud and crowded places.

Mind that Bird-50 to one shot and pay out was $103.20. A real long shot with a compelling story-trainer with a broken ankle drives 16+ hours hauling the horse with a pick-up truck, the trainer wears a huge black cowboy hat and shades-I see a movie in the trainer's future, I just can't decide who I want to play the lead.
