Breast Cancer Funding

Heaven forbid that people care about curing breast cancer and that breast cancer and pink-rbbon-wearing women are spending more and more money trying to fight a disease that affects and kills women.

Were people that outraged when drug companies spent millions finding a cure to old limp penises and therefore making Viagra a hot commodity?

of course not, cause it benefits men! if more men got breast cancer then it wouldn't even be questioned.

The thing that is so compelling about breast cancer is that it strikes 1 in 8 women, making it basically an epidemic. Pancreatic cancer, deadly and horrendous as it is (and I know, because I lost my father to it) is statistically rare.

I see it as tackling one big problem first, then that frees up research and funds for the next one. Piling a lot of resources all at once helps make strides more quickly.

Men also can get breast cancer. My grandfather had it.

breast cancer research could lead to a cure for all cancer...
my friend's father died of reast cancer. he went though terrible menopause like symptoms and a deep depression. i really thought he'd kill himself before he died. people would joke and laugh when he said he had breast cancer, until they figured out he wasn't kidding. it's terrible no matter who gets it.

I agree with Spidey and Verbie. If men got it more we'd probabily have a cure. Also, it is an epidemic. Women, like me, with no family history and very little risk factors getting it at younger and younger ages. And, if you are younger, it tends to be more aggressive, we tend to be diagnosed at later stages, so in my opinion there isn't any such thing as too much research money because we are still dying from it.
