I Just Ate a Peach

I went to the farmer's market this morning and bought some tomatoes, lemons (only 49 cents each!) and went past the peaches and I'll tell you what, nothing had ever smelled so good! I don't like peaches. I haven't had a peach in probably twenty years. I think the reason I don't like them is the last one I had was hard. WTF wants to eat a hard, flavorless peach?
Well, these peaches smelled so good that I bought three. I told the woman who took my money, "I don't even LIKE peaches, but these smelled so good I'm buying three!"
I just ate one and it was HEAVENLY. Sweet, ripe and succulent. Heavenly.
What have you eaten lately that surprised you (be clean, mems) :)

i went to the farmer's market yesterday and bought 12 ears of corn (it was awesome), 1/2 bushell of freshly steamed blue crabs, i saw the man kill them myself, some lemon pound cake and some cajun peanuts. i saw a lot of yummy stuff that i will go back or next week.

Mandolin enjoyed guitar music by an old black man playing the blues. he reminded me of ded for some reason. Mandolin gave him a dollar and then danced for him and enjoyed the music. He seemed delighted to spend a few minutes talking to her. the poundcake ladies loved her dancing.

when i was little, my dad's parents had an orchard and we'd spend summer's painting the trees. i loved eating peaches right off the tree, i can still feel the fuzz on my tongue. i liked eating squishy plums too. i don't like getting most fruit from the store, because they pick it too early.

for years, i hated apples because my mom only bought the red kind with the thick, bitter, leathery skin. When i was pregnant, i craved granny smith apples constantly. After some thought, i realized that i just hate red apples and most grocery store fruit in general. however, i do like honey crisp apples.

when i do get fruit from the grocery store, i look for "grown locally" or "grown in america" stickers because, in theory, it's safer.

My grandmother had a peach tree, and I can remember seeing her standing at the sink peeling peaches that were so ripe the juice would run to her elbow and drip on the floor.

I adore peaches, but I don't think I've had a good one in years. Maybe even decades.

Y'all need to move to the Peach State and go to Roberta, GA for real peaches. So juicy you have to take a bath after eating one.

I have actually been really happy with most of the fruits and veggies I've been buying this summer. Good peaches, nectarines, melons, grapes, etc. We had a sweet and juicy watermelon I bought last week, yummy!

We had a white peach tree when I was a kid and those are my faves. We get good peaches out here at farmer's markets. I looooove peaches.

Haven't eaten anything surprising lately but been too busy to eat well.
