So, since they want me to cover my little (about 1 sq inch) tat up with a bandaid, I picked up some today. They are Spongbob Square Pants and about 4 sq inches. That's what I am going to wear on Monday to work. And, they can't say anything because it's a bandaid and that's what they wanted. It's SO much more obnoxious than my tat it's hi-larious.
Also, in answer to your question Jilly, my boss literally told me that HR is held to a higher standard and that's why I have to cover mine even if others aren't being held accountable for theirs. Bullshit I know and that's why I'm fighting this. It's the principle and it's wrong and I'm going to be a huge pain in the ass over it.

I've been thinking about your problem. Just to show you that your bank isn't the only crazy one on the block; when my daughter was branch manager, she had one employee who insisted on wearing open-toe shoes-not sandals, but pumps with peep-toes. Everyday was a struggle as she had to send the girl home to change shoes. I've wondered ever since what was the deal with that? Open toe shoes lead to hell? Spectator pumps aren't professional? Hell, they wore blue jeans!
I'd love to see the reaction when you sashay in on Monday with Spongebob.
Gail, I think the shoe thing has to do with OSHA safety regulations.
Beanns, do you think you might irk your supervisor so much that you could get into trouble when layoffs come around? I was thinking about that. How vindictive is she?
we're not supposed to wear open shoes at work, but everyone wears flip-flops when it's warm out and since they'd have to take out 98% of the county before they get to me, i wear flip-flops too. hell, last fall when i was so pregnant i could barely move, i wore slippers to work because of the preeclampsia, i couldn't get shoes on. i wanted to work until i had the baby, because they're stingy with time off. i had to go back to work a week before christmas. like ANYONE does work a week before christmas? i asked to just let me come back after christmas since they weren't paying me anyway and they made a big deal out of it, as if a week would have changed anyone's life but my daughter's.

Tree, I see your point about OSHA. A bag of quarters dropped on toes really, really hurts (and I know from experience.)
Tree, she's not vindictive at all and she knows exactly how I am (ie. a pain in the butt). Plus, she's not really the one making the decision of who stays and who goes, it's the other HR person although of course she could make recommendations. The thing is, I'm a really good employees, I've called out sick once all year and that was while undergoing chemo and radiation and I work my butt off and she knows all this. I always get awesome reviews and I have those on file. So no, I'm not worried about that and I'm probably making too big a thing out of it, but sometimes it is the principle.
