Play along

1. You have $10,000 to travel with. Where would you go and what would you do?

2. You have a choice between getting an expensive head-to-toe makeover with an expert fashion consultation, or getting one of the rooms in your house a redo. Which one would you choose and why?

3. New computer or new television?

4. You're given a new car. What would it be? If possible, post a link o a picture so we can all see.

5. You can have dinner with any living writer (because a dead writer wouldn't be so conversationally stimulating.) What writer would you choose and where would you go?

1. I would travel around the complete coast of Ireland: north to south and east to west.

2. I would choose to have my kitchen redone because the cabinets are dated, the stove is a relic and the refrigerator has got to go.

3. New computer, with a big ole flat monitor.

4. New car Lexus LS Hybrid http://www.lexus.com/models/LSh/

5. I think I’d choose JK Rowling and we go to NYC to a restaurant called Daniel. http://www.danielnyc.com/daniel/main.html

1. I'd travel all over Europe starting with Greece, stay in lovely hotels, eat wonderful food, drink great wines, have massages...
2. Head-to-toe makeover since I live in an apartment anyway
3. New TV, I just got a new laptop
4. 1968 red Mustang convertable
5. Don't laugh- Stephen King and I'd want to have dinner someplace quiet where I could pick his brains because he's one twisted mofo :)

1. Maybe the Greek isles, and I'd like to lease some charming little place and live a la native for a time.

2. I'd have myself redone, because I enjoy redecorating and wouldn't want to turn that over to someone else.

3. New TV--I have a new computer

4. I don't care much about cars. I guess I could just replace my Element with a newer Element.

5. I'd pick T. Jefferson Parker. I love his books, and I've met him and he's cute! We'd go to some loud Mexican place and get blitzed on margaritas.

Alex, I guess you are right, so I think I'd just go to Greece then.

i typed up a response to this and it didn't go through i forget all my other answers, so here's a second shot.

1) novia scotia, p.e. island and bay of funday
2) i pray to god for a new kitchen (with an addition) on a regular basis.
3) neither. i don't watch TV and the one we have is rather new and my laptop is only a year old. i'd rather buy something else for myself with the money or save it.
4) minivan,i don't care which because it'll be a few years before i saddle myself with a car payment, i like not having one right now.
5) Fannie Flagg. We'd go to a diner near me and eat fried food and talk trash about all the other people in the joint while perople watching, ending each sentence with "bless his heart." I would be so entertaining during this venture (as i usually am) that fannie would invite me out once a month to people watch.

1. I would love to go and stay in a log cabin on a quiet lake. one where the loons wake me up in the morning. pine trees outside the door and a long pier with a glider at the end of it. i would stay there as long as the 10,000 bucks lasted.

2. i am going to have to pick a room makeover. it is a toss up between the kitchen and the bathroom.
3. New computer. my tv is pretty new, HD big screen. my laptop has a wiggly top.

4. my new car. a convertible. any kind. i love the wind in my graying hair.

5. Dave Barry. he cracks me up. dinner at a steak joint with loaded potatoes.

1. I don't travel, so I'd spend it on a personal chef and housecleaner since I love where I live.

2. That being said, I'd have our bedroom and bath enlarged-both are to small and I'd love to have a walk-in shower.

3. New TV..my computer is fairly new but the Tv is rather large and heavy and it needs to be digital or we'll have a converter box sitting on top soon to go along with the dish box and DVR/VCR.

4. Already got the new car-2008 GMC Acadia-wonderful setting, good gas mileage, doesn't show dirt ;-)

5. So many authors, so little time. Leaving out Eugenia Price (who's dead and doesn't qualify) either Christopher Moore, Greg Iles, Jeffrey Deaver, Carl Hiassen, or Rick Bragg. I'd insist they come to my house and I'd ply them with drink and pick their brains to see what made then tick. And damn that Lewis Grizzard is dead too-i KNOW he'd be hilarious.

1. I would take a river raft trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. That's about $4200. With the rest I would either go to Vancouver for a couple weeks or go to NYC for a couple weeks and see all the musicals and plays that I wanted....OR I would go to Washington, DC for a couple of weeks (staying with Jilly, of course) and see the Smithsonian, the Holocaust Museum, all the American History things, and the like.

2. I have no house, but I don't want a makeover, either.

3. I have the TV and the computer I want, so I don't want either.

4. I have the exact car that I want.

5. This does not appeal to me. I get to meet authors all the time, and the charm of it wears off quickly.

I would go to Italy and explore all the old churches to see the paintings and scukptures. Oh, and I'd go alone.

2. I would get a makeover. Hands down. I've always wanted one.

3. A new tv. The one we have now is so big and chunky.

4. I've wanted a Mercedes since I was a kid. But, I think I'd take some sort of hybrid. The Prius maybe.

5. Either Christopher Moore or Jon Stewart. I want someone who would make me laugh the whole time we were together.

Thanks, Jilly, I may just take you up on your offer some time!

Also, I might go to PEI as well. I love the Anne of Green Gables books, and the TV miniseries was filmed there and is absolutely gorgeous. I'd like to see that some time. And I haven't yet been to the Utah national parks.

So if you didn;t take an author who would you most liike to lunch with?

Jilly's Nova Scotia and Spidey's log cabin sound heavenly.

Gail, I heard Rick Bragg speak at a convention once. He was funny and clever.

Respighi,
I want to go to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks sometime soon before I get too old and decrepit or "decrapped" as my husband would say--have you been to either/both?

Jenny Robin said...

Emma, I went to both Yellowstone and Glacier 2 years ago. My very first blogger blogs have those pictures. I'm sure you can scroll all the way back in my blog and find them.

Jenny Robin said...

In fact, I'll resurrect some of those pictures and create a blog posting tonight just for you.
